Kickstarter Spotlight: Comare

From the press release:

The Affair Has Been Exposed in Comare, A New Comic Series Launching on Kickstarter

Writer Mario Candelaria and illustrator Ashley St. Lawrence are reuniting to bring mid-century romance and suspense to Kickstarter with Comare, a dramatic six-issue comic book set in 1953 Los Angeles.

The story revolves around Amelia and her attempt to end an illicit affair with Francis, a married man, once her presumed dead sweetheart Bradley unexpectedly returns home after a lengthy tour in Korea. But things take a turn for the worst when Francis’ wife Selina confronts her and Amelia will do anything necessary to prevent her secret from getting out.

Influenced by the glamour of old Hollywood, Comare reflects the heartache of having your secrets exposed, the emotional repercussions many soldiers face when returning home from war, and the desperation of trying to hold on to what you have by any means.

The series is fully colored by Lesley Atlansky, lettered by Zakk Saam, and features covers by Jim Towe and a special guest fan favorite artist to be revealed next Sunday evening.

Rewards available exclusively through the Comare Kickstarter campaign include two opportunities to be major supporting characters that appear through out the series, lunch with the creators in both Los Angeles and New York, a chance to own original art, and a one of a kind vinyl recording of big band swing music to get you in the 50’s mindset.

The campaign will run through September 4th with a goal of $4,500 which will go to managing the pledge perks and compensating the entire production staff.

Please note I’m only bringing attention to this comic, and as interesting as it looks any decision to back it (or not) is entirely up to you.
