Michael Was Right — Sometimes, It Doesn’t Matter If You’re Black or White

I came across an interesting list of 18 Instances In Which a Formerly White Comic-Book Character’s Transformation into an African-American Did Not Lead to the End of Civilization as We Know It the other day. Check it out over at Comiclists

  1. Remember back in 1983, Tony Stark had fallen into full-blown alcoholism, and Jim Rhodes became Iron Man for the next two years? I was eight years old or so when this whole storyline was playing out, and I thought it was awesome! “There’s a new guy in the armor, and he’s black? That’s so cool! What happens next?” It was a really great time to be reading the Iron Man series.

Of course, when this sort of thing is done nowadays, a bunch of crabby fanboys flocking to social media to bitch & moan about “social justice warriors” ruining Marvel. Hey, guys, why don’t you wait to see how the actual story plays out before throwing a hissy fit?
