A couple days ago I went dollar bin diving and picked up a couple of older comics, one of which was Conan The Barbarian Annual #8. Although you can find a Dollar Bin Review of the comic posted earlier in the week, that’s not what I wanted to talk about today. You see the first thing I noticed when I opened the comic’s protective bag was the old comic smell.
You know the one I’m talking about.
There’s something about the smell of old comics that you really can’t describe. It’s just musty old paper but it smells of nostalgia, and times gone by and evokes memories of a simpler time in the comic book world where stories really would last only an issue or two at most.
A time when all you needed was a single issue to transport you to another world, and the Big Events hadn’t become a yearly fixture as they are now.
I love that smell.
